What head unit?
I found with my old one that mk6 speakers were rather bassy using a sony head unit :)

gone from the 6000cd to a pioneer 6400bt. Much happier with the amount of bass with just loudness turned on, no need for the bass booster option. Standard headunit was very underwhelming

are they LED's if so try swapping round which side you've put the conenctions on the interior light

I know friend of mine had the issue, dunno if he ever fixed it. He could get them to work when the switch came on, but couldn't get it to work when the doors opened. I thought it might be an earth issue but I dunno.
